Join us on October 30th at 5:00 pm for our fourth meetup of the year to hear Matthew Scicluna discuss “How to Visualize a Biobank: Lessons from the ‘All of Us’ UMAP Scandal”.
In this talk, we will explore how large, heterogeneous biobanks are visualized and the potential risks of methods that exaggerate differences between population groups, as demonstrated by a controversial UMAP in the “All of Us” flagship paper. Matthew will also present PHATE as an alternative approach to visualizing such data without distortion.
Please note that our event is going to be in person. We look forward to seeing you all there!
PS: If you want to present in a future event, contact us via Meetup or by email at info[AT]monbug.ca
